Within the file there are twenty pages. Five of the pages are in color and include a number and corresponding number of snowflakes. There are also a black and white copies of these pages.

There are also five colored pages, that don’t have a number printed, but do included 1-10 snowflakes. These pages are also included in black and white.
If you have the option to print and laminate the pages, that’s ideal. I’ve been able to use the pages countless times with various groups by laminating them. The pages without numbers are also good to laminate because then children can practice printing the number of snowflakes shown on each page.

Each of the pages can be cut in half so that each number is on its own card. This will give you ten pages for each of the different types of pages, including the colored versions. However, when I first used the printables, I only printed and laminated the five color pages with the numbers. Print anything you need.

Once you have printed the pages, below are a few ideas for how you can use them. I suggest creating a center if you’re using them in the classroom. Place the pages you want to use in a container on a table, along with tweezers and cotton balls.

Children will then choose one of the snowmen math cards and count the snowflakes, or read the number. They will then use the tweezers to count out the corresponding amount of cotton balls. They can then replace the cotton balls and choose another card and repeat.
Another option is to roll one or two dice and find the card that corresponds to the amount rolled. These are easy ways to make this math activity hands-on and engaging.

Another option that you can choose, with the cotton balls, dice or just on it’s own, is for children to choose a card, count the number of snowflakes and then print the number in the box on the page.

You can also print the pages, especially the black and white copies, and create a little number book for children to fill out and complete. They can also then color in the snowman on each page to finish the book off.
