Over my twenty years of teaching, I have tried various strategies and activities within my class with my students. Over time I introduced lots of lessons that promote and teach mindfulness. I immediately saw the value in these activities – not only for behaviors, but also with my students’ emotions. As you teach children about mindfulness, also give them options and choice for ways to work through their emotions with this Free Mindfulness Activities Choice Board.
Encourage children to be aware of their emotions and give them strategies to identify and manage their feelings. Whether a child needs a quiet place to sit and calm their body or they are simply looking for a way to be mindful and stay calm, a choice board is a great option.
The activities in the choice board range from full body activities, like yoga to being mindful of others around them by helping and being aware of others needs. Children will often find that by helping others they also end up feeling happier.
