I loved using these word searches in my grade 1 classroom as an introduction to each of our community units. It was a great way for my students to learn key words that they would encounter throughout the unit.

My students love when I hand out the word searches. They’re fun for kids and they learn as they search for each word.

The word searches are also created specifically for young children. The text is large and there are only nine words to find. The words are also only found left to right and down. The words do not go backwards and they don’t go diagonally. This tends to make word searches too challenging for young children.

I hope that you can easily add these printables to your classroom or child’s social studies program.
